RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

Enjoyable Excellence in Jewish Education

Bruchim Haba’im! Welcome to the Beit Simcha Religious School! We are thrilled to welcome you and your family to an experience of excellence in Jewish education.

Beit Simcha offers a unique approach to Religious School.  Students work together and independently when learning Judaics and Hebrew, each at her or his own individual level.  Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon takes an active role in the Religious School, working weekly one-on-one with students and teaching your children as a group, and working with the post-Bar/Bat Mitzvah students directly as well.  Rabbi Cohon is involved in every aspect of the Beit Simcha Religious School, ensuring that the experience is individually tailored.  This provides an excellent opportunity for your children to develop a connection with their Rabbi before starting B’nai Mitzvah training.

Dr. Sophia Cohon explains further:

“The Beit Simcha Religious School welcomes all learners, in philosophy, and most importantly, in practice. That means, as a Jewish educator, I will take the time to get to know you, your child, your goals in Jewish education, the needs of your child, and how your child learns best. We will work together to ensure that your child and your family enjoy this Jewish educational experience, and get the most possible out of it. An environment of love for learning and the guiding vision that all learners are valued allows for learning that is engaging, enjoyable, systematic and customized for each learner.

“Each weekly lesson is based on the Understanding by Design model, in which students have a deep interaction with the material in order to develop enduring understandings that last far beyond each lesson. The instructional design at Beit Simcha is based on differentiated instruction, in which lessons and materials are customized to meet the needs of each student. This instructional design ensures that all students are engaged, and proceed through lessons at a pace that is appropriate to individual needs.

“In order to make this highly-customized form of instruction possible, we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in Religious School community, which includes volunteer opportunities during class sessions, and family education opportunities throughout the school year. In our blended model, in-person and online students share the educational experience together, learning in a rich and interactive environment.”
