OUR VISION

Congregation Beit Simcha (House of Joy) was established by a group of passionate and caring congregants and Senior Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon to create a congregation that would strive each day to do just what our name implies: is to “Serve God with Joy.” (Psalm 100:2)

Beit Simcha works toward a society in which Judaism is central to the lives of Jews and is a profound and positive force in the community and the world. The Congregation will reach far beyond the walls of the synagogue to learn, worship, serve and continually redefine what it means to be Jewish today.

OUR VALUES

We believe that Judaism can and does change the world, and we are committed to ensuring it continues to do so through the eternal miracle of the Jewish people.

We believe that all synagogues should seek to transform the way people experience Jewish life, and we strive to make the experience meaningful to each congregant.

We know that a depth and breadth of Jewish engagement - including commitments to study (Torah), worship (Avodah), and repairing the world (Tikun Olam) - strengthens us and makes for a deeper, richer Jewish life.

We believe in creating a warm and welcoming home for our members and guests, and we look outward to build strong partnerships that reinforce and strengthen our congregation as well as the larger community around us.

We believe that Israel is central to what it means to be Jewish, and we are committed to an Israel that is strong, vibrant and at peace.

OUR COMMUNITY

Congregation Beit Simcha is an inclusive and welcoming community. Our members reflect the diversity of Tucson, coming from all walks of life and backgrounds and ethnicities. We welcome Jewish families in all their diversity, and we encourage participation from all who seek a connection to Jewish life and want to be part of our sacred community.

LEADERSHIP

Congregation Beit Simcha’s leaders are devoted to our temple community and active in the life of our congregation. The leadership team consists of Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon, Director of Youth Education Dr. Sophia Cohon, and our Board of Directors.
